Since the first historic conversions of the North Star Woolen Blanket Factory in 1997, the Mill District has become the premier residential neighborhood in downtown Minneapolis. Settled on the banks of the Mississippi and steeped in Minneapolis’s milling history, this downtown destination neighborhood features exclusive lofts and luxury condominiums, restaurants, historical and cultural centers, all surrounding stunning views of St. Anthony Falls and the historic Stone Arch Bridge. Cynthia Froid has been steeped in the Mill District for over 15 years as one of the two original realtors for these landmark lofts. Holly Holt has been on the Mill District scene since the beginnings of Zenith Condominiums in 2005. It’s been quite a change since the late 19th century when Minneapolis was the flour milling capital of the world. The only explosions around here are now population, entertainment, and culture!

The Mill District’s approximate boundaries are the Mississippi River to the north, the I-35W Mississippi River Bridge to the east, Washington Avenue to the south, and 5th Avenue to the west.

The area also includes several cultural institutions, including the Guthrie Theater, the Mill City Museum as well as the MacPhail Center for Music. The area includes Mill Ruins Park as well as the new Gold Medal Park. It contains the headquarters for the McKnight Foundation, the American Academy of Neurology, the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership, and Walden University.
