Washburn Lofts home design wins award!

A sale of ours from earlier in the year has been transformed by our friends at MSR Architects - and has been featured in MSP Magazine earning MSR a RAVE award.

From MSP Mag:

The RAVE Awards (Residential Architects Vision and Excellence) were created by Mpls.St.Paul Home & Design Magazine in 2004 to recognize and honor achievement in local residential architecture. Every year, a carefully selected jury of editors, professors, and architects uses carefully selected criteria to choose the best work from dozens of submissions to highlight the most outstanding projects in new construction and remodeling. The winning architects are announced at an awards ceremony and their projects are featured in the July issue of Mpls.St.Paul Home & Design Magazine. Year after year, we present the best work to the design community, while also highlighting the importance and benefits of working with an architect. Whether the winning projects are small or large, urban or rural, classic or contemporary, the RAVE Awards are committed to showcasing architectural excellence in the Twin Cities.

Category: Multi-Family Housing, Loft, or Existing Family Structure The Team: Paul C. N. Mellblom, Tom Meyer, Dagmara Larsen, and Justin Martinez General Contractor: Branson Builders and Contractors Interior Designer: Jodi Gillespie Lighting Consultant: Gallina Design msr_ramos When a beautiful loft space in one of Minneapolis’s historic mill buildings had been hidden behind a poorly conceived renovation, designers were charged with removing all traces of the previous renovation to creating a home that properly reflected its Mississippi River setting. The MSR Design team removed faux-plaster finish on the walls, ceilings, and columns to reveal the old mill’s original concrete columns and shell, along with a graffiti-covered brick wall. Neutral materials such as bleached wood floors, a tiled bath, and white walls complement dark stained oak millwork, while occasional bursts of color in red kitchen cabinets and a custom wool rug draw the eye through the living spaces and to the river view beyond.
