Small Business Spotlight: Community Care

This week, we are shouting out a few of the incredible small businesses in Minneapolis who have been taking care of our community. Below is a very non-exhaustive list of some great businesses who have been doing great things.

Restaurants

Wrecktangle Pizza has been collecting and distributing mutual aid throughout the community via their community fund- and makes an excellent Detroit style pizza to boot. We’re partial to the Shredder.

Fine dining restaurant Tenant has switched up their usual mode of operations from tasting menu to pay what you can soup service. Every week 50 gallons of soup are going to families whose food access is currently limited.

South Minneapolis institution Modern Times has rebranded to Post-Modern Times and switched to a free, donation based model for the foreseeable future.

The Bungalow Club serves up elevated fare in a cozy space with Sunday Night Pasta n’ Trap menus, Wednesday night burgers, and recently their community packs and Pasta Feed fundraiser.

Milly’s Wine Bar has been collecting food and necessities for the community in their Mill District space.

Silver Fern cafe and wine bar is donating to MN Immigrant Rights Action Committee with every purchase of their “I ❤️ MPLS” coffee flight.

Indeed Brewing Co. will be hosting a food drive for the NorthEast Neighbors Mutual Aid Fund this Saturday, February 14th from 1-5pm.

Needle and Skein yarn shop has raised over $500,000 and counting for emergency assistance and immigrant right groups with the sale of their “Melt the Ice” hat pattern.

The vintage furniure store Find Furnish has been raising funds for rent relief for the community.

Moona Moono is a coffee shop, retail store focused on Asian and Asian American goods, and a community hub. Join them for Lunar New Year Celebration this Saturday, February 14th from 10-3 to mark the year of the Fire Horse- “when rapid change is met with bravery and care”.
